I agree. Kos sucks. So does Kevin Drum. I'm glad Bob Somerby has been ripping him lately. Notice that Kevin pumps his conversations with Peter Beinart but never addresses what Somerby has said about him. (By the way, your sidebar link to CalPundit is outdated.) And Josh Marshall is overrated. I'm just glad that he doesn't have comments on his blog.

The way Kos shit on Kerry a few days after the election showed his true colors. He had some nerve dumping on him after urging his millions of readers to contribute money month after month. He's still pissed for being kicked off the links page, maybe. I've also gotten a few emails that suggest he played a part in derailing the Dean campaign...but I can't confirm that at this time (I'm working on it, though).

I met Kos during the RNC in New York City. We met at the Tank, where many bloggers were blogging from...kos got his picture taken there for the NY Times Magazine article.

Met is too strong of a word. I was invited by a cool blogger from Texas to sit at the table and I met a number of fellow bloggers. At first Kos pretty much ignored me. Forget pretty much. He did ignore me. I sat with him and five others that night and at least two other nights and it wasn't until the last night that he deigned to speak to me (I'll write about that at a later date).

The thought occurred to me that I wasn't famous enough for him to talk to. That thought was confirmed when one of the Billionaires For Bush stopped by the table to talk to Markos. At first, Kos was polite, but then when he found out that he had just joined the billionaires and that he wasn't one of the founding members he joked about how he was to petty to talk to.

You ever see someone joke about something like that in a conversation. They say it like they don't really mean it...but there's a whiff of truth and honesty to it. But sometimes as the talk continues it becomes forgotten.

Well. After Kos made his little joke...and others at the table laughed about it and played along...the interview came to a sudden end. It was the truth.

Fuck Kos. He's the past and we're the future.
Why Are We Back In Iraq?

Kos has always been gunning for a job in the big leagues. It looks like things haven't gone as planned.

But that doesn't stop him from trying. And he still is, judging from his attitude.

There are, however, far better blogs out there which didn't get started during the beginning of blogmania and therefore they haven't had the readership his and other "big names" have.

I've read a few good posts about the nature of the blogosphere lately. I think we're going to see a wave of writing on that topic. It should be fun to watch people figure out where different bloggers stand and what new groups are forming to challenge the establishment.

JD: Thanks. I fixed the Calpundit link. I never read him anymore because it takes so long for the site to load and then when I get there, I'm left cold. But I like to keep the link for old times' sake. And he does write informative, nuts and bolts stuff on Social Security.

Funny stuff Robin. I've never read Kos much. He always seemed insufferably arrogant. I think Kevin Drum is better, and if I want one of the big aggregators, I'll go to Atrios.

Ron, you make many very good points, and I have heard similar things from others about his personality shortcomings.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.
