I'm just wondering.
The Daily Mirror reported that Bush spoke of targeting Al-Jazeera’s headquarters in Doha, Qatar, when he met Blair at the White House on April 16, 2004. The Bush administration has regularly accused Al-Jazeera of being nothing more than a mouthpiece for anti-American sentiments.
The Daily Mirror attributed its information to unidentified sources. One source, said to be in the government, was quoted as saying that the alleged threat was “humorous, not serious,” but the newspaper quoted another source as saying that “Bush was deadly serious, as was Blair.”
Al Jazeera has stayed quiet on this. Take a minute to imagine what would happen if FOX News had a memo discussing plans to bomb its headquarters. Is there a word bigger than "hysteria?"

Well Eason Jordan never stated the US was targeting journalists --- which they obviously were/are --- he just mentioned that they were killing an awful lot and then apologised for stating that death toll.
I guess it's one of those taboo things like calling the troops "baby killers". It's not like anyone denies that the troops actually kill hundreds of babies, but apparently to actually call them baby killers is, you know, offensive to the murderous thugs and their supporters. Well I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings....

Hey David :) Happy Thanksgiving.
You're right about Jordan. I do think he must feel some vindication with the release of this story. I certainly do and I didn't lose my job for stating an unpleasant fact.

Thanks.
I know Thanksgiving is a big deal to you guys. But you know sooner or later it will just be absorbed into Christmas. And then Halloween too. It's inevitable. In Britain Christmas starts in August. We don't have anything else going on in between apart from celebrating the day our parliament nearly got blown up (better luck next time) and poppy day (armistice day). Eventually Christmas will be year around. Soon you too will learn to love endless Christmas and your shops will sell Cadbury's easter eggs year around.
I'm going to be travelling for the next two weeks or so and I don't know if I will have net access. Don't be surprised if your number of daily hits plumets without my star power to attract trolls. :)
You could substitute some Ward Churchill quotes maybe?
Anyway don't let anyone step on your ninth or tenth amendment rights in the meantime.

Back when the whole Eason Jordan kerfuffle occurred, I pointed out in several comment threads that the documentary The Control Room, about Al Jazeera and the Iraq War, pointed out how Al Jazeera's HQ in Baghdad had been bombed by US military, killing one of the network's employees. This was after Al Jazeera had clearly pointed out its location and asked not to be bombed. There is rather strong circumstantial evidence not just that Bush wanted to bomb AL Jazeera, but that such a bombing actually did occur.
But Eason Jordan, what an SOB for saying that, right?

Year-round Christmas has already happened. If we didn't know it before BushCo, in the face of national tragedy, extolled us to go shopping, then we should have known it then.
Have a safe trip.

I have to see Control Room.

Reply to your question, Robin: I can't think of another word at this moment.
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
