jpol, a dKos diarist and not yet an offical member of the blogswarm, wrote this dKos diary that analysed the Quinnipiac poll and found more support for what we already know:
What the Quinnipiac Poll says to me is that Pennsylvanians are not at all happy with Santorum, (or with George W. Bush), and that Casey is currently the choice of many voters simply because he is not Santorum. But the poll also indicates that the voters are largely ignorant of Casey's stand on the major issues, and that both Casey and Santorum are at odds with the majority of Pennsylvanians on many of those issues. The implication is that much of Casey's current support may well melt away as the voters become aware of how similar he is to Santorum on so many core issues. Currently Casey is said to be causing considerable consternation, even among his strong supporters, for running a largely "invisible" campaign. Chuck Pennacchio points out that the Democrats lost when they ran a social conservative against Santorum in 2000. "An anti-choice Democrat cannot beat an anti-choice Republican in a high-profile race," says Pennacchio.
Check out the analysis and share it with your friends.
Welcome Dr. Laniac, who sees the connection between supporting Rodriquez and Pennacchio. Thank you, sir.
Avedon Carol has a good idea for the Pennacchio campaign based on the Zogby poll that shows that Pennacchio beats Casey when people are informed about the candidates' relative positions on key issues:
So Casey, the conservative Democrat, benefits from not letting anyone know where he stands, whereas Pennacchio does better if makes his views known.
If I were in PA, I'd be printing out that list of the candidates' positions and passing it out everywhere. If I were actually on his campaign, I'd do a mailshot to make sure every household in the state got a copy. It'll easily fit on a single page.
The campaign has a clear, concise brochure that does just what Avedon suggests. I'm passing copies out as I collect signatures on Chuck's ballot petition. This is the a longer, online version. The mailing is a great idea but it'll take money to get it done. If you want to help Chuck get the word out to PA voters, you can donate at the link below. Donations are already starting to come in since we started.
Donations aren't the only way to help - join the effort to get Chuck on blogtopia's ballot! Blog and comment about Chuck, a real Democrat who will work for the change we need to happen in the party and in the country.

I was just wondering if the Pennacchio campaign has a statement on the Senate Investigation into illegal wiretapping, and the apparent kiboshing thereof.
This is an area where I expect leadership from our elected representatives, and it would be good to hear how he'd act if he were in the Senate.

That's a good idea. You can ask at the blog. I'm getting a post about that ready and will email a person I know who volunteers for the campaign.

One thing about the dKos post: at the end of it there's an online poll with Casey leading by a few percentage points right now. Drop in and vote yourself!
