70 Rallies in 70 Cities in One Day

Image hosting by Photobucket

This is how you get the attention of the country and the people who are supposed to be running the country - you have 70 rallies across the county on the same day on the same issue.   I'm not saying that those people will wake up and do the right thing, but doing the wrong thing will be much harder now.  Albert of Dragonballyee will be at the rally in Philly.  I'm looking forward to reading what he writes and seeing some amazing photos.

The GOP wanted to make immigration the issue for the midterms.  I think they're finding out what a big mistake that was.

I think they're finding out what a big mistake that was.

Well you'd think so but consider: it's either this or the Iraq war, healthcare, the defecit, the Plame affair, the Abramof scandals..... next week they're going to leak that Karl Rove likes little boys to take more heat off.

Oh no wait, they already used that one up. Maybe he'll find a bug in his office or something.

I don't know if 70 cities has more impact but it does make it easier to attend. I notice there's nothing in Alabama. All 4 people who are running for Governor here have already slagged off the immigrants so it's a non-issue apparently.

Oh they do have one in Alabama so far, in Birmingham. Your map is out of date; it's more like 170 cities

It depends on the cities. 70 is a large enough number for sure if they hit the hot media markets. 170, even better. I'm going to go to the one in Philly.

Just by way of a general announcement, I have a new claim to fame. Bow before my wisdom and might, for I have managed to complete the set puzzle of the day in less than 60 seconds twice now. My best time is 52 seconds.

Don't miss this account of a visit to a poor village in Haiti.

Looks like it made the recommended list. That system actually works well sometimes. It's a shame something similar can't be set up blogosphere-wide.

Gender issues warning!
This is a diary about the misfortunes of being the non-custodial parent which has been recommended by a front-page post at dKos. It's rare to hear about non-custodial parents at dKos because of all the sexism against men.

This article however is by a woman who calls male non-custodial parents, "mysogynistic wingnut assholes trying to run their former spouses' lives". That's just so you know that sympathy is only due to non-custodial parents that happen to be women of course. The title of the piece? "Gutwrenching, heartbreaking agony". An agony no male ever feels of course.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

  • "True religion will not let us fall asleep in the comfort of our freedom. Love thy neighbor is not a piece of advice, it's a command. ...

God, my friends, is with the poor and God is with us, if we are with them. This is not a burden, this is an adventure."

The Reverend Al Sharpton

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.
