The Mets clinched the division last night at home, where it is right and proper to do. The official team site, which isn't as homer-ish as you would imagine, has the best story from last night's celebration:
[Manager Willie Randolph] later returned to the field to thank his players with hugs and some kisses too. David Wright, a bottle in one hand, a cigar in his mouth, posed for a photo with his manager and got a kiss."There goes the image," his manager told him. "You drink, you smoke and you fool around."
"It's not lit, I wasn't smoking," Wright said. "I'm just celebrating."
Wright's a cutie. Here's hoping he brings his bat and his glove to October.
For the rest of us:

The Mets haven't played a meaningful game practically since the All Star break. I'm really pleased for Willy.
But, if they -- as I hope -- end up in the Series against the Yankees, then I'll be hoping for a quick and unhappy end to his season.

Well, I'm sure it will bring him some sadness to beat him former team in four games. ;)
