"We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war."
This Boston Globe feature, based on numbers from the National Priorities Project, looks at what $456B - the cost of the War on Iraq - would buy. It actually made me cry.
Team BushCo started this war because they knew that it would make it possible to undermine everything that is even remotely good about this country. They knew that it would make good people do evil things and then they'd own their souls. They knew that it would distract us from the real problems that face us and keep us looking down instead of looking up at the people who are to blame. They knew that hundreds of thousands of innocent people would suffer and die. They knew that it would be almost impossible to end. They knew that the best way to control us is through fear. And with the $456B it cost so far to do all that, we could have fed and educated the world's poor for five and a half years. How do you not cry when that sinks in?
