This comment at tpmcafe is the best rundown of the GOP presidential field yet. Print it out and have it ready to hand out to any friends and family who show the dangerous signs of considering to vote Republan in 2008:
Rudy is a nasty piece of work and always has been; he treated his family like crap and acted the role of autocrat in NYC. McCain is really nuts. His war talk is incoherent and leaves the realm of rational thought. He panders to all, and is willing to go to any dishonest end to gain the nomination. Romney stands for nothing; he is duplicitous; a politician's politician; no wonder Roger Simon lusts for him. and (sic) Fred Thompson's main credential is that he can look and act the role, and the real powers can act freely behind the facade.
I think the powers that be act freely behind any president but I'm quibbling there and Fred Thompson doesn't have a chance. It's a great summary.

Agree with the comment; less with Thompson "doesn't have a chance." Not saying I'm right or that I'm pleased, but when I read "Fred Thompson's main credential is that he can look and act the role, and the real powers can act freely behind the facade," that sounds like real contender material to me, at least for the GOP nomination. Straight out of central casting, so to speak.

Romney's cuter. Don't you know anything about Republican politics, Thomas?? For punishment you have to watch the Brady Bunch episode where Greg nearly becomes Johnny Bravo until you understand how the GOP works.
