I'm off to a day of action to mark the 5th terrible anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Penn Action and the Coalition for Peace Action have two dawn to dusk schedules running in two counties to commemorate the invasion and occupation of Iraq. It would be a miracle if we didn't have to be doing the same thing next year. But if we're still in Iraq, and especially if there's a Democrat in the White House, I hope we are except with a thousand times the number of people out there with us.
Try to mention the occupation to a few people today. Remind them of what it's costing us in lives and treasure. Help them make the connection between the class war raging in public view now on Wall St and the class war raging on the battlefield and in our neighborhoods. We let an unregulated bunch of thieves get us into a $3T housing/securities market failure; we let the same bunch get us into a war of aggression that's failed just as spectacularly only with more devastating costs. Help people understand that we can live a different way.
