And as a Democrat, too. Oy.
The Northeast's dwindling cast of Senate Republicans has Democrats circling Arlen Specter's seat in Pennsylvania, convinced the party is well-positioned to make a competitive race out of the 2010 election.
Leading the pack of prospects -- at least in celebrity -- is Chris Matthews, the MSNBC "Hardball" host and a former Capitol Hill Democratic staffer. The Philadelphia native has been toying with a run for months, and this week he sat down with state Democrats to discuss the prospect of taking on the five-term GOP senator.(emphasis added)

I don't see it. We have a few people angling for that job so I hear: Rep. Joe Sestak (PA-07) is one I'd put my money on. And I hear talk of Rendell too. They'd both have the edge on Matthews. This isn't Minnesota. (I'm not sure what I mean by that but I stand by it. Pennsylvania is not Minnesota.) And remember, Specter says he's running again - that must have been what I meant. Specter isn't Coleman and we don't elect professional wrestlers, like Matthews, to important office in the Keystone State. So rest easy but be advised that I am always wrong (TM).

Attaway to go. Rumsfeldian.
I don't think even Specter is a shoe-in, the Pubs are in so much doo-doo, but I'm glad to hear you don't elect retired actors and wrestlers and tv comics like Matthews. But what got to me was that he wants to run as a Democrat after years of trashing them.
The pendulum is indeed swinging back.
