She is very biased against Kerry. Today she has this little snide attack. In today's Times(6-25-04) in "Switching Candidates, Iacocca Backs Kerry" has she ended her article with a paragraph pointing out an apparent deception from Sen. Kerry. She makes it seem as if he lied about riding in Chrysler cars, because he rides in Chevrolet Suburban vehicles from the Secret Service. Please read this:

"Mr. Kerry, for his part, praised Mr. Iacocca as "a man of common sense" and said that "the Chrysler minivan has been the vehicle of success in winning my elections." Nowadays, of course, the company Mr. Iacocca built is the German-owned DaimlerChrysler. And Mr. Kerry is ferried to and fro in black Chevrolet Suburbans driven by Secret Service agents."

He said "Chrysler minivan has been the vehicle of success in winning my elections", not that he currently rides in them. He is not apart of the automotive purchasing decision of the Secret Service. She states this with the obvious motive to smear Sen. Kerry, albiet involving a trivial matter. The "ferried to and fro" bit adds toanother theme Ms.Wilgoren often employs, which is that Sen. Kerry is a rich,
pampered elitist.

I don't think this particular article was that bad compared to others. She should've done more with the issue of whether the delay in the vote was pure politics or not.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.

A certain 10 percent will ensure its employment anywhere; 20 percent will produce eagerness, 50 percent positive audacity; 100 percent will make it ready to trample on all human laws; 300 percent, and there is not a crime which it will not scruple, nor a risk it will not run, even to the chance of its owner being hanged.''
