Good heavens! 6210 died in your military hospitals in Germany? Your Army Medical Corps needs looking at. Or more likely, the source of the story, the 'King of Zembla' needs his head looking at! And as for anyone who swallows his story - stomach pump, nurse, quickly!

Our medical corps are the best in the world.

I agree, so where does this figure of 6,210 deaths come from? And if you assume that for every soldier who dies, there are, say, four who are wounded, that means close to 25,000 casualties plus the deaths. Don't you think some-one would have noticed before now?

It comes from a stupid, unnecessary war started by a messianic stooge. I think quite a few people have noticed and the story is kept quiet by an acquiescent corporate media. Reporting dead and dying soldiers looks bad for Dear Leader and so is bad for America.

There was a diary at DailyKos a couple weeks ago making this exact claim. Fortunately, it's not true. I'm guessing someone forwarded the diary prior to the debunking to the Congresswoman's staff and they've run with it without checking the facts.

The folks at icasualties.org basically said it'd be impossible for that many soldiers to die "off the books" without being noticed by loved ones. They're heavily scrutinized by families already. They would've noticed if their dead son didn't show up in the

Now, special forces and the like probably don't show up, understandably, but I seriously doubt 6000 special forces have died in Iraq.

Bit of common-sense from Aexia, but like neo-Darwinists, religious fundamentalists and Marxists (to name but a few), those that want desperately to believe will never let inconvenient facts get in the way.

Hi Aexia - A year ago I would have believed what you say but now I just don't put anything beneath BushCo. But I'll check around some more. Thanks :)

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.
