*flips man-on-dog the bird*

Only thing you can take from this is that he won't be a Senator for much longer.

I dont know, Sean. He's not the only one who feels this way. Sadly. Frighteningly.

Clearly, heterosexuals don't have it going on like Santorum would have us all believe. I couldn't watch all of that because I was getting a massive headache.

"natural" family. sure. as if we all descended from the trees ready to make like the Brady Bunch. oh, now i'm already in trouble.

hasn't he read a history book? heck, the concept of the child as a protected, nurtured being is relatively recent. now he's trying to get us all a-thinkin that mommies wore pearls since 400 BC.

I think if people took a minute to think about it, they'd want Man-on-Dog to keep his nose out of their family arrangements and could be led to see how that would naturally extend to homosexual marriage. What I think is going to win the Senate for him in '06 is electronic voting machines and the Dems, who are insisting on running Casey, a man who is happy to betray his convictions for political purposes. Man-on-Dog is positioning himself as a kook, but one who stands by what he believes and counting on people to respond to that.

Hi Pepper,

"mommies wore pearls since 400 B.C."

Too funny. I don't know if Man-on-Dog is a cynic or a true believer. Either way he's dangerous.

Excellent post Robin! And how one wishes all the questions you ask were asked by REAL journalists. That Santorum sounds creepier every day ...

You are aware, of course, that Ricky is no longer ruling out a run for the presidency when (if) the Emperor retires? How does 'President Santorum' strike you?

Hi Helga :) You have no idea. He's creepy to look at and listen to. And when he's trying to be forceful he whines and grimaces like a four-year old.

Hi Mick :) Far be it from me to trust a word out of Man-on-Dog's mouth but he says he's not running in '08 for family reasons. That's why I think we're going to see VP Man-on-Dog and that will wedge him into a run in '08, his family be damned.

Thanks for taking an interest in this, Robin. But will his loyal constituency?

Hey Riggs :) I think that if the Dem candidate were Chuck Pennacchio, who is immune from charges of opportunism, then Man-on-Dog would be in trouble. But if it's Casey, who can very easily be painted as someone who readily gives up their religious beliefs for political gain - and who is pissing off the Dem base right out of the gate - then Man-on-Dog will get another six years. He's already laying the groundwork for a campaign message that says you may not like everything I believe in, but I'm honest and passionate enough to tell you what that is and act on it. That's powerful and it's exactly what BushCo ran on in '04.

PA Dems are the stupidest strategists in the country bar none. They are crushing Pennacchio and annointing Casey, a guaranteed loser.

Plus we have eVoting in PA so who knows if our votes will even count?

I know Stewart was roundly criticized for the interview, but other than attacking Santorum & looking like a jerk, I can't see what else he could have done.

If Santorum had voiced some of his more inflamatory "beliefs", I think Stewart would have called him on it.

Hi Kyra :) I agree that Stewart was in a difficult spot and he clearly wanted to take the longer view, which is okay. I was talking about the rest of the media. There is more than enough of Santorum's beliefs on record for him to start explaining the implications of those ideas. Stewart may have had to let him get away with broad, hurtful statements but the real news media - let's pretend for a second that we have one - should not.

Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.
