Man-on-Dog's people are brilliant at turning lemons into lemonade. They've got a giant lemon walking around in a bad haircut saying things like women shouldn't work and college doesn't help people to advance themselves and they are managing to postion him as Joan of Arc. From the Inky, describing Man-on-Dog's latest public appearance:
• His favorite passage from the Bible - "Be not afraid," Santorum said. "Be not afraid to proclaim your truth. Be not afraid to say what you believe is true and fight for those principles in the public square."
He's not a loon out to destroy the middle class, criminalize homosexuals, and take away your right to privacy - he's a courageous man of principle. Who can't get behind that?
Typically, the PA Dem machine is concentrating on what kind of robe Casey should wear to his coronation instead of turning the primary into a slug fest that would allow Casey to define himself. By the time they start to say anything, Casey will be in the classic and devestatingly uninspiring "me-too" role. There isn't a more stupid campaign strategy - or lack of strategy - in the world. Or are they afraid that Casey wouldn't be able to beat Pennacchio in a fair fight? They can choose: stupid and arrogant or cowardly?
Related: I think we're going to have VP Man-on-Dog before Election Day '06 but if Casey keeps hiding while Man-on-Dog keeps polishing up his Defender of the Faith medal, he won't need to be saved from certain loss and PA will be stuck with six more years of this putz.
