So following the logic of Michael Chertoff's apperance on MTP, if I get drunk, put on a blindfold, take my eighteen wheeler for a spin and slam into your home, killing half of your family and and injuring the rest, we should spend all our time from then on figuring out how to feed, house, clothe and educate the surviving members of your family. According to him it would be a catastrophic mistake to look back at "mistakes that already happened."
I think Saddam's lawyers might be interested in that particular defense.
