I was at my local vigil tonight. It was held at the Quaker meeting in town and followed the format of a Quaker meeting, which means you sit in meditative silence unless someone feels moved to speak. Only one woman felt so moved during the hour I was there. She spoke of the victims of 9/11 and the war in Iraq and how even though our hearts cannot possibly absorb all the grief and all the suffering, we seem unable to stop the violence. It was definitely not a celebration. It was a funeral.
I attended the vigil held by Peacemakers of Norwalk,
at the Congregational Church on the Green. Mabey 50 people attended.
I couldn't get the thought that while we were mourning the loss of 2000 Americans more were being lost as we sang of peace.
More people need to get involved in Public Access TV. A "reporter" from PATV
was there and they really need more volunteers.
They have a small number of viewers but it could grow, it is an unrecognised venue.
