distributing the toy soldiers around is an interesting idea. i too just found those nyt military bloggers. it looks like it started earlier this month.

I had a look at the IRS rule. I liked this part:

The currently-offered and affiliated-group rules restrict the ability of taxpayers to control and direct the use of their own tax return information as they see fit. The proposed regulations adopt an approach that ensures taxpayers are provided with a meaningful opportunity to consent to the use and disclosure of their tax return information. Accordingly, the proposed rules revoke the affiliated-group and currently-offered restrictions.

They're doing it for our freedom!

So I can decide who gets to see my return? Sierra Club, yes. WalMart, no?

I love the last sentence the most. "affiliated-group and currently-offered restrictions." What does that mean????

So I can decide who gets to see my return? Sierra Club, yes. WalMart, no?
Oh, Robin. Robin, Robin, Robin. NO. :)

I think affiliated-group means other companies or corporate entitites fiduciarily(?) allied with the tax preparer company, and "currently-offered" means other services currently offered by the tax preparer itself. Together, the current restrictions are (I think) that sharing tax information "in-house," so to speak, is legal, but doing so "out of house" is not. Yet.

This is starting to sound like it may not be in my best interests but instead benefit corporations.

Freedom hater.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.
