The American Street is back. If you've tried to get on the site anytime over the last few months, you may have had connection problems - problems similar to the kind you'll be seeing a lot of if the telecom industry is allowed to privatize the internet. There were timeout errors and "that form has contains no data" messages. Getting there could be an ordeal. But all that is behind us now. Kevin, the site's owner, found another host and Prometheus 6 did whatever technical wizards do so now getting to the site is a snap.
Kevin also recruited some new bloggers for the schedule. I fought to hang on to Wednesdays because I am nothing if not a creature of habit. I made an overture to the good people at Prince Spaghetti but when they didn't want to move their day to Tuesdays, I had no choice but to stay the course.
The new Street line up of regulars looks like this:
Sunday: Returning members, Melanie of Just A Bump On The Beltway and PZ Myers of Pharyngula, aka, Science Blogs.
Tuesday: Say howdy to three new members here. Jo Fish of Democratic Veteran, the elegant Bride of Acheron, and another witty Texan who gives good graphics and captions, Fearguth of Bildungblog .Thursday: anonyMoses, will initially be joined by two new members. Shout out to Joe of The Heretik, and Clif of Outside The Tent, who blogs from DC. Arvin Hill will start posting on May 18th and every Thursday after.
It doesn't get any better than that. I'm lucky to be part of it. Lucky and doomed to feelings of inadequacy. C'est la blog.
Update: Blaming the victim isn't always a bad thing.
ot: I know you are very interested in the voting machines issues. I have a friend who has been working very hard on this issue and has been part of the team that successfully changed NM practice, and is in the process of changing CA practice. They need some attorneys in PA to get cooking there and file suit very quickly. Pro bono, of course. I know you are in Bucks County (I used to live just over the river near Washington's Crossing), and I wonder if you have any ideas. Her organization is called Voter Action. You can check the website. Lowell Finley, who has been involved in election law way before you or I ever thought it was interesting, is the co director. Directions or suggestions would be great.

I don't think that's possible.
The group I work with, CVI, has been in contact with Lowell Finley. We're facing the same problem you are trying to find lawyers interested in helping us proceed with our lawsuit, which deals with certification standards and has national implications.
Not only is paying a lawyer a problem, it's also very difficult to find someone willing to risk the wrath of their client base by getting involved with a suit against the commonwealth. It's been a very frustrating process from the jump.
I'll send your message to the person in charge of our group and see if she has any suggestions.
