Dear Torture Victims and Your Advocates Everywhere,
Please accept my apologies on behalf of all Bucks County residents who are ashamed to be represented in Congress by three people who so clearly revile everything that the United States of America is alleged to represent. With any luck at all, two thirds of them won't be going back to Washington next year. And, even though this law will not be repealed in the forseeable future, there is a chance that a Congress out of the hands of the Torture Party will move America more slowly on the path to totalitarianism.
Please direct all correspondence here.
Hey Robin!
Sorry about your... you know... country and constitution all that. I suspect if Amnesty USA follows the rules of other national Amnesty groups they will have a policy of not directing complaints to their own government for fear of persecution. Try here or here.
I think the blogosphere needs to come up with a new catchphrase. Maybe can we call it fascism yet? or perhaps slouching towards fascism.
There's no doubt that 9-28 will be seen as more of an attack on America than 9-11 was in a few decades time.

I am as ashamed as you are to have the same geographic heritage as folks like Mike Fitzpatrick. How I wish we had someone in Congress with the guts to stand up to these champions of "security."
Who knows, maybe we'll have someone like that soon...

Hey, David :) Yeah, there's no doubt in my mind that we're living in a fascist state. I had the same thought you did about 9/28. My mother beat us both to the punch. She was at work in a news blackout during the events of 9/11. Her very first response to the news was "I hope our response isn't worse than the attacks." Of course, it has been.
Howard: It's hard to say how that election will go. Fitzpatrick does a good job of positioning himself as a populist even though he's a rigid corporatist.
