« God Embarrassed by Louisiana Gov's Gullibility | Main | Obama the Theocrat »

You've been rocking this place. I'm dying to answer this post but can't find the time. Meeting tonight in Philly (regional peace people - I'm sure the occupation of Iraq will be over by the middle of next week) and stuff like that all this week. Will still try. Look forward to sleep-deprived ramblings!

You've been rocking this place.

Um, I hope that's a Good Thing.

It is a good thing.

The pattern is clear -- he doesn't really want me on board, he just wants me pulling the lever.

I promised I'd help this fall, so I will -- but at this rate, it will probably be just once. Barring dire need, if there's a way to work constructively outside the Obama campaign and the starry-eyed wing of the Democratic party in my neck of the woods, that's what I'll do.

Barring dire need, if there's a way to work constructively outside the Obama campaign and the starry-eyed wing of the Democratic party in my neck of the woods, that's what I'll do.

We're sort of caught between the starry-eyed wing(which is fast becoming disenchanted, btw) and the DLC/Bush Dog wing, but there has to be something we can do. I suggest keeping pressure on BO, as that group at his site is doing (I joined yesterday after reading your post). If there's enough noise to make him think he's risking his base (unlikely but possible) he may move back toward the center, tho I think the populist stance he adopted when Edwards was threatening him is gone forever.

He's concerned about his public image and being seen as a flip-flopper and betrayer of Democratic values still has force. Mind you, even if he does moderate his stance it will only be for the duration of the campaign but it becomes a weapon to use later.

That's all sort of what I mean when I say we have to treat him like any other pol. Feet to the fire, all that. Don't let him get away with anything. We need to get better at attacking DINOs.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

  • "True religion will not let us fall asleep in the comfort of our freedom. Love thy neighbor is not a piece of advice, it's a command. ...

God, my friends, is with the poor and God is with us, if we are with them. This is not a burden, this is an adventure."

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.

A certain 10 percent will ensure its employment anywhere; 20 percent will produce eagerness, 50 percent positive audacity; 100 percent will make it ready to trample on all human laws; 300 percent, and there is not a crime which it will not scruple, nor a risk it will not run, even to the chance of its owner being hanged.''
