I haven't written anything about Paul Newman because I'm having a harder time with his death than I usually do with celebrity deaths. That's sort of taken me by surprise. I loved his work. The Verdict was my favorite of his movies. But I also believed him to be a good person, who tried to help people. That's a hard thing to do - easier when you're rich, true. But he took stands he didn't have to during elections and that's not easier when you're rich. Anyway, I was sad to hear that he was ill and I'm sad to hear that he's died. I'm glad I waited to post something though because it game me time to remember a clip from one of his movies, which, given what's happening in our financial markets, is the perfect good-bye.
It took 3 days to write but my appreciation of Paul is up at Witness.
