Finally, someone else has noticed!

"the leadership are all in the DLC/BD Alliance and the Alliance believes in modern conservative ideals like the restoration of a monarchy - or at least monarchic powers - in America.... [T]his was no accident. It was deliberate. It was design.

The Democrats aren’t pretending to be like the Pubs to get elected. They are like the Pubs."

This is the only thing that explains the chronic weakness of Democratic opposition to Bush and his policies.

It's far too kind to say that "They’re under the thumb of a minority of conservative Dems...". The leadership and many of the Democratic members are not under any thumb, they believe the GOP position in their flinty little hearts. That's why they can't oppose this stuff effectively; it'd be like arguing with a mirror.

Rank and file Democrats need to accept the truth. We need new Democrats. One's who will reflect what we want and need.

Remember this at primary time.

zak, there are more traditional Dems than you think. Look at who's fighting Obama over this. It ain't the Pubs. There are some powerful names on that list and the only thing that's been holding them in check was the spectre of losing to the GOP again. Well, they won and now they're getting antsy. So are a lot of the trad/prog Dems. "Party discipline is fine in order to win but we won and we still have to bend over?" That's not a situation that can last with a genuine mandate to back them up and the polls reading the way they do.

IOW, "primary time" indeed. Ramp up.

  • "[O]ur time, our energy, should be spent in educating, agitating, organizing our fellow citizens in the workplace, in the neighborhood, in the schools. Our objective should be to build, painstakingly, patiently but energetically, a movement that, when it reaches a certain critical mass, would shake whoever is in the White House, in Congress, into changing national policy on matters of war and social justice."

  • "True religion will not let us fall asleep in the comfort of our freedom. Love thy neighbor is not a piece of advice, it's a command. ...

God, my friends, is with the poor and God is with us, if we are with them. This is not a burden, this is an adventure."

The Reverend Al Sharpton

Mr. President, we love America, not because of all of us have seen the beauty all the time.

But we believed if we kept on working, if we kept on marching, if we kept on voting, if we kept on believing, we would make America beautiful for everybody.

  • ''With adequate profit, capital is very bold. A certain 10 percent will ensure its employment anywhere; 20 percent will produce eagerness, 50 percent positive audacity; 100 percent will make it ready to trample on all human laws; 300 percent, and there is not a crime which it will not scruple, nor a risk it will not run, even to the chance of its owner being hanged.''
